Migraine Headaches

The Hippocrates diet, followed faithfully, has been very successful in banishing migraines, which are often caused by a build-up of toxemia. For those unprepared to eat a healthful diet, Dr Raymond Peat had this to say: “Because of my own experience in finding that eating a raw carrot daily prevented migraines, I began to suspect that the carrot fibre was having both a bowel-protective and an anti-estrogen effect. Several women who suffered from premenstrual symptoms, including migraine, had their serum estrogen measured before and after the ‘carrot diet’, and they found that the carrot lowered their estrogen within a few days, as it relieved their symptoms.” Because it counteracts the damage done by oestrogen, progesterone is important in preventing migraines.

There is persuasive evidence that chronic dehydration is the root cause of many migraines, so drink two litres of pure water each day (no substitutes!) and, once your water-starved body has re-hydrated, you may conquer migraines forever. Neither of these remedies will work overnight, nor are they likely to overcome consuming junk food and gluten, which is notorious for causing
migraines.
